How it works

The GeniusMesh integration with BambooHR keeps your employee directory in GeniusMesh up to date, so 360° feedback and leadership development programs start from accurate employee records.

Once you authorize the connection with OAuth 2.0, GeniusMesh reads employee records from your BambooHR account on a schedule:

  • Automated employee import: Imports each BambooHR directory employee's name and work email into GeniusMesh as an employee of your company. Department can also be imported when configured with the GeniusMesh team.
  • Scheduled directory sync: Replaces repetitive manual CSV uploads. The sync runs once a day by default, and the GeniusMesh team can change the schedule — for example, to run several times a day.
  • Secure OAuth 2.0 connection: No API keys to create or share. GeniusMesh only reads from BambooHR and never changes data in your BambooHR account. Requested access: employee, employee directory, company details, reports, and offline access (keeps the connection active without signing in again).

How to install

Setting up the BambooHR integration takes only a few minutes. Follow these steps to connect your account:

  1. Register as an employer

    Create your employer account at GeniusMesh Employer Registration and verify your email address using the link we send you.

  2. Open Integration settings

    Log in to GeniusMesh. In 360° Leadership Solutions, click your profile picture and select Account Settings, then open the Integration tab. Only the main company account can see this tab.

  3. Connect BambooHR

    On the BambooHR card, enter your BambooHR Subdomain — the part before .bamboohr.com (for example, yourcompany from yourcompany.bamboohr.com) — and click Connect to BambooHR. If your browser blocks the pop-up, allow pop-ups for GeniusMesh and try again.

  4. Authorize access

    A BambooHR window opens. Sign in to BambooHR and approve the access request. The window closes automatically and the BambooHR card shows Connected.

  5. Sync activation

    Connecting does not start the sync on its own. The GeniusMesh team activates the sync for your account, and your employees appear in GeniusMesh after the first scheduled run. If they haven't appeared within a day, contact support@geniusmesh.com.

Good to know

  • Employees are matched by work email. Employees who already exist in GeniusMesh are left unchanged.
  • Removing someone from BambooHR does not remove them from GeniusMesh.
  • Each employee needs a work email in BambooHR to be imported.
  • You can disconnect at any time from the same Integration tab.
